FAQ for the Card Conversion of Manulife Credit Card

  1. Why will Manulife Credit Card be discontinued?
  2. As a business decision, Manulife Credit Card will be discontinued in January 2025.


  3. What is the arrangement after Manulife Credit Card is discontinued?
  4. If you are the cardholder of Manulife Credit Card (Visa), you and your supplementary cardholder (if any) will receive a DBS Eminent Card as your new credit card.

    If you are the cardholder of Manulife Credit Card (Mastercard), you and your supplementary cardholder (if any) will receive a DBS Black World Mastercard© as your new credit card.

    We will further send you a letter to inform you of the account transfer date ("Transfer Date").


  5. What are the privileges of the New Card?
  6. You can continue to enjoy privileges of Manulife Credit Card on top of the privileges of your New Card. Please refer to the email or letter titled "Your new credit card is coming your way with exclusive privileges!" we sent to you.


  7. Which items will be retained and automatically transferred to the New Card?
  8. Credit limit, Annual fee, Interest rates, All other fees & charges, Statement date and Payment due date remain unchanged.

    Credit/ debit balance, Octopus Automatic Add-Values Services, Autopay service of the outstanding balance of your Credit Card, Your choice of "DBS$ Redemption Scheme" or "DBS$ Cash Rebate Scheme", Telephone Identification Number (TIN) and Linkage with DBS savings or current account(s) will be automatically transferred/ linked to New Card.


  9. What are the items that will be changed with the New Card?
  10. Credit card number, Card expiry date and CVV, and Personal Identification Number (PIN) will be changed.


  11. What items will be terminated with the New Card?
  12. Autopay service with merchants for periodic payments from your DBS Manulife Credit Card. To ensure continuity of your payment arrangement, please use other DBS Credit Card to set up autopay services.


  13. What are the other arrangements of the New Card?
    1. If you have installed and/or used your Manulife Credit Card as a mobile card within a digital wallet, your mobile card will be terminated on the Transfer Date of your Manulife Credit Card. Please register your New Card after card activation and use it as a mobile card within a digital wallet.

    2. If you have set up any of the functions below in DBS Card+, the setting will become invalid on the Transfer Date of your Manulife Credit Card. Please redo setup with your New Card again.

      1. Easypayment - registered any local bank accounts under your name to DBS Card+ to make payments to your Manulife Credit Card.

      2. Auto Flexi-Shopping instruction

      3. Setting of "Retail Spending Limit" and "Online/ Local/ Overseas spending" in "Card Management"

    3. If you have submitted a Manulife Credit Card replacement application to us, New Card will be issued automatically upon successful application after 31 December 2024.

    4. If your Manulife Credit Card's expiry date is January 2025, New Card will be issued to you automatically.

    5. Upon receipt of your New Card, please follow the instructions detailed in the mailing pack to activate the credit card. After you have activated the new credit card, your old Manulife Credit Card will become invalid. Please cut the credit card such that the magnetic stripe and the chip are destroyed and dispose of it carefully afterwards.


  14. What is the arrangement for the DBS$ balance under the "DBS$ Redemption Scheme" of my Manulife Credit Card?
  15. The DBS$ balance of your Manulife Credit Card account as of the Transfer Date will be converted to cash rebate at a conversion rate of every DBS$1 = HK$1, which will be credited to your New Card account on or before 28 February 2025.


  16. Any change to the termination arrangements for Monthly Premium Autopay and Free Credit Shield Protection of Manulife Credit Card?
  17. No change. For details, please refer to FAQ for the Termination of Manulife Credit Card Features (Autopay of monthly premium and CreditShield).


  18. If I am holding two Manulife Credit Cards, will I receive two New Cards?
  19. No. Only one of your Manulife Credit Cards will be transferred to the New Card. You can log in to DBS Card+ app and select "Agree to receive new DBS Credit Card" to view which Manulife Credit Card account will be transferred. The other Manulife Credit Card, which is not transferred, will be terminated on 8 January 2025.


  20. What are the arrangements and points to note if I decline a new DBS Credit Card?
    1. To minimise any inconvenience caused to you, if you have any outstanding balance, Cash Advance, Card Interest-free Instalment Loan, DBS Credit Card Interest-free Merchant Instalment Plan, "Call-a-loan" Service, Funds Transfer Programme, Fee Based Instalment Programme or Flexi Shopping Programme with Manulife Credit Card as of the Termination Effective Date (8 January 2025), you do not need to settle the outstanding amount with a one-off payment. You may continue to settle it according to the existing repayment schedule (if applicable) and monthly card statement until all the payments are settled. Please be reminded that services/programmes that charge fees on a daily basis will keep this practice in place, while finance charges and related fees will still be levied for overdue payments, and the existing terms and conditions continue to apply.

    2. Your DBS iBanking and DBS Card+ HK account(s) (if any) will also be terminated on the Termination Effective Date if you solely possess a Manulife Credit Card without DBS bank account or other credit cards. We will send paper statement to you if your card account has any activities after the Termination Effective Date. The paper statement fee will be waived.

    3. The DBS$ or cash rebate accumulated in your Manulife Credit Card account will be forfeited upon termination of your Manulife Credit Card.

    4. If you have set up any Octopus Automatic Add Value Service and/or autopay services with merchants for recurring payment from your Manulife Credit Card, such services will be terminated and you shall make appropriate arrangements with the relevant merchants.

    5. If you have linked your Manulife Credit Card with DBS savings or current accounts, you will no longer be able to operate these accounts with your Manulife Credit Card including but not limited to through ATM services upon card termination.

    6. Your supplementary card (if any) will also be terminated on the Termination Effective Date.

    7. We shall not be liable for any loss, fees and charges incurred by you due to the update and/or failure to update the payment instruction(s) linked with Manulife Credit Card.

    8. To protect yourself, before disposal of any terminated credit cards, you are advised to cut the credit cards so that the magnetic stripe and the chip are no longer intact.
