What does MobileShield cover?

MobileShield is an insurance product which offers protection to your mobile phone in the event of accidental damage and/or burglary or robbery. In addition, you are also entitled to other coverages such as DBS DigiBank E-Wallet Protection, cash out robbery cover and important documents cover.

What happens if there is damage, burglary or robbery of my phone?

In the event of accidental damage:

Your mobile phone will be repaired by Chubb Mobile Repair Network. A deductible* of HKD450 is applicable for each and every repair.

If your mobile phone is unrepairable, you will be offered a replacement mobile phone of the same or similar specification as your insured mobile phone. Kindly note that the replacement mobile phone may be new or refurbished. A deductible* of HKD900 is applicable for each and every replacement.

In the event of burglary or robbery:

Your mobile phone will be replaced by Chubb Mobile Repair Network. You will be offered a replacement mobile phone of the same or similar specification as your insured mobile phone. Kindly note that the replacement mobile phone may be new or refurbished. A deductible* of HKD900 is applicable for each and every replacement.

* Deductible means the first amount of the loss which you must pay if you had a claim and Chubb will only liable for the amount which is over and above.

Will I be covered for any loss of data information stored on my mobile phone during the repair or replacement process?

No. Any damage to or loss of data held on your mobile phone, including but not limited to any pictures, software, downloads, apps and music is excluded from the policy coverage.

Who is eligible for MobileShield?

To be eligible, applicants must be:

  • Hong Kong residents; and
  • 18 years old or above.
Is my mobile phone eligible for MobileShield?

To be eligible for MobileShield, you must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Your mobile must be new from a manufacturer, a mobile phone network or a retail store
  • Purchased within 90 days
  • Device value must be below or equivalent to HKD15,000, if the phone value is more than this limit, enrolment will be treated as invalid.
How many mobile phones can I cover under one MobileShield policy?

Each MobileShield policy will only cover up to one mobile phone and is based on the IMEI number which you provide to Chubb.

What happens if I change my mobile phone?

If you purchase a different mobile phone within 12 months from the commencement date of your MobileShield policy, please ensure that you notify Chubb within 14 working days from the date of purchase. You are entitled to change your IMEI number twice during any single 12-month period.

What is DBS Digibank E-wallet Protection?

For example, you will be covered in the event of:

  • Burglary or Robbery of Your Mobile Phone containing Your DBS mobile banking account (i.e. DBS Digibank / iWealth® app), and we will reimburse you for any unauthorised transactions which take place in the first 24 hours prior to your first reporting of the burglary or robbery to the Bank; or
    Any unauthorised transactions made on your DBS mobile banking account (i.e. DBS digiBank / iWealth® app ) while your mobile phone is still in your possession, we will reimburse you for any such unauthorised transactions which take place in the 2 months prior to your first reporting to DBS.For any enquiries on the protection, please call DBS Chubb Insurance Service Hotline at (852) 3191 6618 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, excluding public holidays).
MobileShield can provide coverage to my mobile for how long?

Annual policy, 12 months from the commencement date of the policy;

Monthly policy, can cover up to 24 months.

How can I pay for the policy?

You can pay for the policy on either monthly or an annual basis by your credit card (Visa and MasterCard).

Does the policy only provide coverage while I am in Hong Kong?

MobileShield provides worldwide coverage to your mobile.

What does Digi Devices Protection cover?

Digi Devices Protection is an insurance product which offers protection to your gadget in the event of accidental damage and/or burglary or robbery.

How many devices can be covered under one Digi Devices Protection policy?

The Policy will cover up to 3 gadgets, includes 1 Tablet/iPad; and/or 1 Mobile Phone; and/ or 1 Laptop/notebook

To be eligible for Digi Devices Protection, you must fulfil the following criteria:

  • One of your gadget must :
    • be new from a manufacturer, a mobile phone network provider or a retail store
    • Purchased within 90 days
    • Gadget value must be below or equivalent to HKD15,000, if the gadget value is more than this limit, enrolment will be treated as invalid
  • Rest of your gadget must :
    • purchuse from a manufacturer, a mobile phone network provider or a retail store
    • Purchased within 365 days
    • Gadget value must be below or equivalent to HKD15,000, if the gadget value is more than this limit, enrolment will be treated as invalid
What happens if I change my insured gadget ?

If you purchase a different gadget within 12 months from the commencement date of your Digi Devices Protection policy, please ensure that you notify Chubb to change your insured gadget’s IMEI or serial number within 14 working days from the date of new gadget purchased. You are entitled to change your IMEI or serial number twice during any single 12-month period.

what will I receive after enrolled Digi Devices Protection?

After enrolment, you will receive 2 emails:

  1. Email with Policy documents
  2. Email for verification of your devices
Once enrolled, when my gadget can be cover?

You need to ensure that the IMEI and/or Serial Number of gadgets eligible under this policy are declared with us within 30 days through the verification portal from the purchase of this policy. This policy only effective once the the verification is completed

what will happen if I failed to complete the verification within 30 days?

If failed to complete verification within 30 days, your policy will be deemed as invalid and policy will be cancelled with full premium refund if the premium have charged

  • Prior to contacting Chubb Gadget Repair Network to make a claim, you must report the burglary or robbery of your device to the Hong Kong police force
  • Please have the police report reference number, IMEI number/Serial No of your device and your policy details ready when you contact Chubb Gadget Repair Network
