What is Virtual Asset (VA)?

Digital representations of value can take various forms, such as digital tokens (including utility tokens, stablecoins, or security- and asset-backed tokens) or other virtual commodities and assets. These digital assets, collectively referred to as "virtual assets".

It's important to note that virtual assets exclude digital representations of fiat currencies issued by central banks. Some of the most well-known and representative virtual assets in the current market include Bitcoin and Ether.

Spot VA ETF invests directly in VAs, generally track VAs prices more closely.

What is future-based VA ETF?

Future-based VA ETF gain exposure to VAs primarily through futures contracts, it may not track VA prices as closely due to the nature of futures contracts.

Yes. You have to complete the Virtual Asset Knowledge Training and Assessment before trading Virtual Assets ETFs.

  • How can I acquire Virtual Asset Knowledge (VAK)?
    • You can acquire VAK either through
    • —    Login to DBS digi bank HK app > select “Invest”> access to Investment Account Management page > select “Virtual Assets Knowledge”, or
    • —    Login to DBS iBanking > access to Wealth Management> Requests Tab> Conduct Virtual Assets Knowledge Assessment (Treasures only).

You need to go through the training material and pass the assessment in order to acquire the VAK.
