The China Securities and Regulatory Commission (CSRC) implemented key changes to its Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors (QFII) scheme on 1st November 2020, The updated QFII scheme offers foreign investors:

A wider investment scope than the Northbound Bond and Stock Connects schemes – expanded access to National Equities Exchange And Quotations (NEEQ), futures, and private funds, commodity futures, margin financing and securities lending, refinancing business and etc. |
• |
Applicant criteria – An expanded list of foreign institutional investors can apply for QFII, including futures companies and trust companies, and other qualified institutions that are approved by CSRC |
• |
A simplified application process – regulatory response within 10 working days |
• |
Flexibility of appointing multiple local custodians per QFII license holder |
